Shikakukes (シカクケス) is a puzzle game for Playdate console.

This game is inspired by Quarth, NES game in 1989, and is added roguelite flavor.


Rule

Basic rules

Shoot a block or a bomb and make squares.
The bigger square you make, the higher score you get.

The game is over when the blocks reach the top of the screen.

is "bomb block".
Making a square so that it contains a bomb block, the bomb block explodes and erases blocks in 5x5 area.

Control

In menu

  • D-pad : Move cursor
  • A-button : Select
  • B-button : Cancel

In game

  • D-pad Left/Right : Move cursor
  • D-pad Up/Down : Switch weapon
  • A-button : Shoot a block with the current weapon
  • B-button : Shoot a bomb with the current weapon
  • Crank : Move screen up/down

Energy

Energy is required to shoot blocks and bombs and move screen with the crank.

Energy is recovered by making a square.

Basically, bombs require more energy than blocks.
Try not to use bombs as much as possible.

Level up

As you get scores, you will level up and you get new weapon.
Select one to pick up from 3 candidates.

You can have a main weapon and up to 2 sub-weapons.
If you picked up a weapon of same kind as the main weapon, it is replaced.
If you have 3 sub-weapons, the oldest one is discarded.

Modifiers

Each weapon has modifiers.

Score +X%Increase or decrease the score when making a square.
Crank +X%Increase or decrease the energy increase/decrease when turning the crank.
Regeneration +X%Increase or decrease the amount of natural energy recovery.
Weapon +X%Increase or decrease the energy consumption when shooting blocks or bombs.
Shot +X%Increase or decrease the energy consumption when shooting blocks.
Bomb +X%Increase or decrease the energy consumption when shooting bombs.
Modifier +X%Increase of decrease the quality of modifiers that new weapons have.
Energy +X%Increase or decrease the energy recovery when making a square.

Each weapon consists of a block and a bomb.

Blocks

This list shows typical blocks.

Normal blockShoots a normal block.
Hard blockShoots a hard block.
Blocks of this type are not connected to each other.
Sticky blockShoots a sticky block.
Blocks of this type stick to other blocks.
Magnet blockShoots a magnet block.
Magnet blocks stick to other magnet blocks.
Iron blockShoots an iron block.
Blocks of this type are not connected to each other.
Blocks of this type destroy only one block directly below it.
(TIPS: An iron block cannot be broken by other iron blocks.)
Ghost blockShoots a ghost block.
Blocks of this type pass through other blocks at once when shot.
X-double blocksShoots two-blocks horizontally joint.
Y-double blocksShoots two-blocks vertically joint.
X-triple blocksShoots three-blocks horizontally joint.
Y-triple blocksShoots three-blocks vertically joint.

Bombs

This list shows all bombs.

Normal bombShoots a bomb to erase blocks in 3x3 area.
Small bombShoots a bomb to erase only one block.
Strong bombShoots a bomb to erase blocks in 5x5 area.
X-line bombShoots a bomb to erases blocks in a horizontal line.
Y-line bombShoots a bomb to erase blocks in a vertical line.
Bomb allShoots a bomb to erase all blocks in screen.

Heroine

This game features a cute magic-girl, Kanade.
She has 5 transforming-modes.

1. Normal form

This form is available from the beginning.

2. Conductor form

To release this form, play the game at once.

3. Tentacle form

To release this form, get score of 2,000 with Conductor form.

4. Bunny form

To release this form, get score of 4,000 with Tentacle form.

5. Wafuku form

To release this form, get score of 6,000 with Bunny form.

Language

This game supports English and Japanese.

To change language-setting, open menu and check "language" item.
